The door closer system has Several applications advantages when installed in a bus,

1. Passenger Safety is increased since the door can be operated only by the driver when the bus, is halted. For School-buses etc. safety is increased because the children cannot accidentally open the door.

2. In Air-Conditioned buses, loss of cooling power is minimised because the door seals
automatically.

3. In luxury buses, comfort level is increased

manually. Instead a button can be provided near the door or near the driver's controls to operate the door.

4. Since the door operates through a pneumatic mechanism, the noise level and rattling is minimised.

5. In Police Vans or Bank Vans, security is increased because the door can be operated only by the driver.

6. The door does not swing out, and hence it is safer even for passengers and pedestrians standing outside the bus.

7. Since the door has electric operation, it can be so interlocked that the door will not open if the bus engine is running, and vice-versa. This is to eliminate chances of accidents.
